    Allied Printing Chooses TruPoint

    About Allied Printing Services, Inc.

Housing the largest bindery/finishing area in New England, Allied Printing Services operates from a state-of-the-art single-point-of-manufacturing facility.TruPoint Edge Doctor Blade With robust sheetfed, web, and digital pressrooms, they are equipped to handle a wide range of printing requirements with precision and efficiency.

    Navigating High-Speed Demands

Gerry Dugan serves as the Pressroom Supervisor at Allied Printing Services, overseeing the management of the sheetfed pressroom. With operations running continuously across three shifts, the multi-use pressroom is a hub of activity. Employing over 450 dedicated professionals, Gerry recently evaluated doctor blades for his pressroom. His primary focus was to find a blade capable of withstanding high speeds and high volume anilox rolls (95 BCM) at 20K sheets per hour without premature wear. One of the key criteria he considered was the ability to keep the press running, avoiding stops to change blades due to wear.

    Minimizing Downtime & Maintenance

After years of using steel doctor blades, Dugan opted to explore a plastic alternative and was extremely impressed with TruPoint EDGE. Unlike the frequent blade changes required with steel blades, TruPoint EDGE lasts up to 4-5 weeks. With minimal wear and tear, the blade offers reduced maintenance and eliminates the necessity to clean behind the doctor blade. Gerry Dugan said, “These blades ensure consistent and even coating distribution on every job.”

Innovative Blades for Superior Efficiency and Quality

Today, Allied Printing uses TruPoint Edge exclusively on all coating stations. Dugan’s been particularly impressed with the blade’s durability, stating, “With TruPoint EDGE, I no longer constantly change blades or stop the press to make adjustments and clean behind the blade. TruPoint is now the only doctor blade I use across all my coating applications,” said Dugan. He highly values Flexo Concepts’ for their exception quality and personalized service, finding peace of mind in the safety features that safeguard his team from potential cuts or injuries when handling TruPoint.

Absolute Engineering Endorses TruPoint Green® Doctor Blade

Absolute Engineering TruPoint GreenPlymouth, MA, August 5, 2020.  Flexo Concepts® is excited to announce that its TruPoint Green doctor blade has been authorized by Absolute Engineering for use with the company’s carbon fiber chamber systems. After conducting extensive testing, technicians at the UK-based chamber producer found TruPoint Green to be a solid option in mid-high line screen corrugated metering applications.

TruPoint Green was created in Flexo Concepts’ Doctor Blade Innovation Lab as an alternative for steel blades when increasing anilox line screens test the limits of UHMW’s metering capability. The blade’s excellent stiffness and spring properties allow the blade edge to maintain good contact with the anilox roll and execute the delivery of higher quality graphics. Green blades are drop-in replacements for UHMW and safer than steel in terms of preventing operator injuries and anilox roll scoring.

Flexo Concepts is proud to partner with Absolute Engineering, a trusted world leader in the design and manufacture of carbon fiber-chambered doctor blade systems with more than 7,000 successful installations worldwide. By combining two cutting-edge technologies – Absolute Engineering’s carbon-fiber chamber systems and TruPoint Green next generation plastic doctor blades – printers can maximize quality and productivity while improving safety.

  • SENAI-Cecoteg Takes Home Key Award for Quality Print in Brazilian Flexo Market

SENAI-Cecoteg Takes Home Key Award for Quality Print in Brazilian Flexo Market

Plymouth, MA, November 19, 2019. Flexo Concepts’ Brazilian trade school partner, SENAI-Cecoteg, was one of three finalists – taking home the top award in two categories for exceptionally high-quality printing – in an important local flexo competition.

The pieces submitted for the Prêmio Qualidade Flexo Prof. Sergio Vay 2019 Award were produced by the students of the Industrial Learning in Flexographic Printing course. For one of the samples, Instructor Marcelo Pereira da Silva’s team raised the competitive value by adding a “scrape-and-smell” varnish with an encapsulated flower essence. The piece was printed on a Feva flexo press using Flexo Concepts’ TruPoint Orange® doctor blades.

Since 2008, the award has been granted by ABFLEXO – an independent organization – to the best-performing companies and schools in flexo printing. The awards ceremony,  held on November 8th this year, is traditionally recognized as the largest annual event of the Brazilian flexo industry.

SENAI-Cecoteg works with its partners to assimilate and share new technologies to support the Brazilian printing market. The course of Industrial Learning in Flexographic Printing is a distinguished area within the school, being awarded the Prêmio Qualidade Flexo Prof. Sergio Vay prize for quality in flexography eight times previously for works printed by the students.

Flexo Concepts, a company whose TruPoint® products occupy a key position in the global flexo printing industry, partnered with the organization earlier this year to promote the benefits of its doctor blade innovations in Brazil and advance the market in the region.

  • TRESU/Flexo Concepts® Collaboration Expands Blade Options for E-Line Users

TRESU/Flexo Concepts® Collaboration Expands Blade Options for E-Line Users

Plymouth, MA, September 20, 2019. Flexo Concepts is proud to announce the result of a joint project with TRESU that makes the E-Line Chamber Doctor Blade System compatible with TruPoint® doctor blades. The new system allows printers to quickly change between steel and plastic blades to optimize their ink and coating delivery system for effectiveness, efficiency and safety.

TRESU’s E-Line Chamber Doctor Blade System, which uses a simple clamping apparatus that replaces screws with an eccentric rod and allows blade changes in under two minutes, was originally created for steel doctor blades. To address the increasing demand in the industry for plastic blades, TRESU worked closely with Flexo Concepts to create its exclusive Series XL Blade Holder. The new system can accept blades between .020”/0.5mm and .040”/1mm thick. Now, E-Line users now have access to a much wider variety of doctor blade options, and printers who prefer plastic blades – whether for safety, blade life, anilox scoring, solving problems or special applications – can also enjoy its benefits.

The new XL Blade Holder is available for the D1E, D2E and D3E versions of TRESU’s E-Line Chamber System. No modifications to the chamber are required to retrofit the new clamp system into existing flexo units, and blade holders can be easily switched back and forth based on job requirements.

The new Series XL will be featured at Labelexpo Europe 2019 in Brussels. For a demonstration of the new clamp design with TruPoint blades, visit Flexo Concepts at stand 7A27 or TRESU at stand 7D53. More information about TruPoint blades and the XL Blade Holder can be found online at www.flexoconcepts.com and www.tresu.com, respectively.
