Doctor Blade Installation Video: How to Install a Polymer Doctor Blade

By |Last Updated: 10/20/2026|

A doctor blade installs correctly when the edge is undamaged, the blade sits flat in a clean holder, the printed arrows point to the anilox roll, and the blade meets the roll at 28° to 32° with light, even pressure. This 50-second Flexo Concepts video shows a TruPoint PolyLam XL MicroTip polymer doctor blade going in.

What steps does the doctor blade installation video show?

The video shows five steps for installing a TruPoint MicroTip doctor blade: check the edge, seat the blade with the printed arrows pointing to the anilox roll, tighten the holder evenly, engage the chamber so every contact point touches at once, and add only enough pressure to wipe the roll clean.

  1. Check the blade. Look along the edge for nicks or bends before it goes in.
  2. Seat the blade. Clean the holder and seat the blade flat, with the printed arrows pointing to the anilox roll.
  3. Tighten evenly. Overtightening ripples the blade and stops even contact.
  4. Engage slowly. Bring the chamber in so every contact point touches the roll at the same moment.
  5. Set light pressure. Add pressure in small steps until the roll looks satin, not glossy.
