Charta Packaging Improves Printed Ink Density 30-40% After Installing MicroClean™ Unit

Plymouth, MA. September 28, 2009.  Wellington, New Zealand-based corrugated packaging manufacturer, Charta Packaging, has installed the largest MicroClean™ dry media anilox cleaning system in Australasia.  Since installation, the company reports that its printed ink density has risen by 30-40%.

MicroCleanThe MicroClean Model 160, the 47th machine supplied by Aldus Engineering in New Zealand and Australia, can accommodate anilox rolls up to 3.81m in length and up to 356mm in diameter.  It was chosen to maximize the performance of Charta’s new Martin HBL 6-color press.

The MicroClean technology was selected after investigation into various cleaning options, both on and off machine.  Trials carried out on a smaller MicroClean Model 120 using a small anilox roll proved successful and cost effective, according to Aldus.

Charta Packaging manufactures high quality corrugated board and has five printer die-cutter machines including the new Martin press and over-gloss unit, which it says is the most advanced flexographic technology in Australasia.
