Packaging Plast to Ship Carbon Fiber Chambers with TruPoint Green®

Packaging Plast to Ship Carbon Fiber Chambers with TruPoint Green Doctor BladePlymouth, MA, July 26, 2017.  Flexo Concepts® is excited to announce that Packaging Plast will begin shipping all its carbon fiber chambers with the TruPoint Green doctor blade beginning in September of this year.

The Italian OEM manufactures its chambers from a carbon fiber material which offers stiffness and durability in an ultra-lightweight construction.  Other benefits include reduced water and solvent consumption, easy blade changes and extended blade and end seal life.

TruPoint Green is a next generation polymer doctor blade for corrugated printers producing mid-level graphics.  The blade’s mechanical properties and composition allow it to meter more effectively than UHMW with significantly longer blade life than steel.  TruPoint Green in combination with the carbon fiber chamber design delivers better print quality and provides printers with considerable savings on the inking systems of their presses.

Totally in-house designed, assembled and manufactured with 100% structural carbon fiber, Packaging Plast’s doctor blade chambers can be installed on CI as well as in-line flexo presses.  The chambers are suitable for the full spectrum of flexo printed products, from corrugated board to flexible film, including tissue paper. MicroClean IQ™ Human Machine Interface Simplifies Management of Anilox Roll Cleaning Process

MicroClean IQ Simplifies Anilox Roll CleaningPlymouth, MA, January 26, 2017. Flexo Concepts® announced the latest innovation to its MicroClean Anilox Roll Cleaning Machine: “MicroClean IQ.” MicroClean IQ is a human machine interface (HMI) that handles interactions between the machine and the operator and makes the anilox cleaning process even easier for users.

MicroClean IQ can be programmed with 30 “recipes,” or customized roll descriptions, in addition to roll specifications. Enhanced special cleaning options make it possible to isolate specific sections of the roll for extra cleaning, and operators are now able to pause and re-start a cleaning cycle as well as track remaining cleaning time. The new system will record all roll cleaning history and make recommendations for cleaning cycles and routine maintenance. All of these features, plus troubleshooting, are accessible directly through the touch screen display.

MicroClean is a dry, off-press system that uses air pressure to apply plastic media to remove dried ink and coating from anilox cells. In operation worldwide for 25 years, MicroClean machines remain the best off-line anilox cleaning option in terms of cost, maintenance and eco-friendliness in many flexo printing applications. MicroClean IQ is standard on all new models and the company will be offering upgrades for existing equipment.

Flexo Concepts® Takes Advantage of Massachusetts Training Grant and Applies Funds to FIRST Operator Certification

first_cerfitication_logoPlymouth, MA, October 31, 2016. Flexo Concepts employees have recently completed Level I of FTA FIRST Operator Certification in order to become flexographic printing “experts.” The training was made possible by a Massachusetts Express Grant designed to fund workforce education in the state.

Created and administered by the FTA, FIRST Operator Certification is an online training program through which participants gain a complete mastery of the flexographic printing process. The program offers three certifications: FIRST Press Operator, FIRST Prepress Operator and FIRST Implementation Specialist. Flexo Concepts chose the latter which is designed for supervisors, managers and non-production personnel such as suppliers of flexo products and services.

The company applied for funding for the training through the Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund Express Program, named for its easy one-step, online approval process. “In fact it was Flexo Concepts that encouraged FTA to add their FIRST Certification training to this program,” said Duane Woolbright, FTA Training Specialist. He added, “The training has been vetted by the state and is now part of their approved manufacturing training and certification curriculum.”

Flexo Concepts encourages other flexo printers and suppliers in Massachusetts to apply for the Express Grant to take advantage of this training. The company plans to continue with the next two levels of Implementation Specialist training and ultimately achieve FIRST Company Certification.

For more information about FIRST training, contact Duane Woolbright at [email protected] or Kenneth Theriot at [email protected]. To learn more about the Express Grant, go to workforcetrainingfund.org/programs/express-program/.
