New MicroClean™ MultiMedia a Versatile Solution for Anilox Cleaning

Plymouth, MA, March 13, 2008. Flexo Concepts, manufacturers of MicroClean™ dry media anilox cleaning systems and TruPoint™ plastic and composite doctor blades, announced today the addition of MultiMedia to its family of MicroClean™ plastic media products. MultiMedia joins four other types of media in the line, offering flexographic printers who clean a wide range of line screens a new option for anilox cleaning.

Developed for use in the company’s MicroClean™ Anilox Cleaning System, Multimedia is a pre-mixed combination of two existing media types: Laser Media and FineMedia. LaserMedia is typically used for cleaning lower line screen ceramic anilox rolls while FineMedia is usually selected for higher line screens. Previously, printers cleaning a wide range of line screens would often combine the two media types by hand on an as-needed basis. By doing so, they were blending the large particles of LaserMedia with the smaller FineMedia particles to create a mix that was ideally suited for cleaning both high and low line screens.

MultiMedia will save printers both time and money by eliminating the need to mix the two media types by hand and by consolidating their inventory to just one media type. Printers using MultiMedia should also experience longer media life than when using just FineMedia since MultiMedia has a higher content of larger particles. The larger particles take longer to break down and are consumed more slowly, enabling printers to clean more anilox rolls per drum of product.

Kevin McLaughlin, Flexo Concepts’ President, says that the introduction of MultiMedia was more of a response to a customer need than an engineering innovation. “By mixing LaserMedia and FineMedia together, our customers have essentially been using this product for years,” says McLaughlin. “We felt it was time to offer a pre-mixed alternative to save our customers the hassle of mixing and the cost of warehousing two types of media.”

Also in the MicroClean media line are UltraMedia, a long-lasting formulation for cleaning chrome and ceramic surfaces, and PartsMedia, for use with the MicroClean™ Parts Cleaning Systems. Like all media types, MultiMedia will qualify for the company’s exclusive Quik-Ship program which guarantees shipment of media within 24 hours of ordering. Media orders are presently filled at the company’s Plymouth, Massachusetts headquarters and shipped from various warehouse locations in the United States.
